Title: "Honeycomb" Price: 1,000.00 Dimension: 26 3/4" x 5 1/8" Dia. (base) Materials are Plywood and Mahogany with nickel plated ball chain shade. When I was a child in New Orleans, I was fascinated by - and a little afraid of - a tree that was almost completely hollow and filled with bees. I thought of it as a tree that had "become" a honeycomb. I see nothing frightening now in this evocation of that memory - whatever fear I once felt has long been transposed into excitement about transposition itself - of emotion into creation, of things like honeycombs into things like trees, into things like sculpture, into things like lamps. Title: "Swan" Price: 900.00 Dimension: 17 3/8" H x 9 1/8" W (base) Materials are Solid Mahogany with 18" chrome flexible arm. I like swans, so I guess this can be called "Swan." People seem to relate to its being a swan. My own private name for this piece is "Let There Be Light," although I think I mean by that, less the Light of Biblical Creation than the light of man, man's ego. I can explain it best by saying that I imagine the piece glowing softly in a darkened room, its neck curved in such a way that what you see by its light is its own polished mahogany form, on the strong, softened triangle of the base. Title: "The Rye Byers Lamp" Price: 1,100.00 Dimension: 22 3/4" H x 6" sq. (base) Materials are Plywood, Mahogany and Koa with nickel plated ball chain shade. This is the first lamp we made. It was named after the man who owned the "Rye Cameron Byers Showroom" at 8424 Melrose Ave., L.A. Before he died and left his antiques showroom to my longtime friend (from Atlanta days) Jane Larue, he created many a beautiful lamp from his huge antique lamp parts collection. This lamp is nothing like the ones he made, but we did use one of his wonderful old brass harps in it, and it is on display in what was his showroom, (now called "Larue"), and Jane does say his ghost still visits...so we thought we'd better name our first lamp after him. Title: "Little Venus" Price: 600.00 Dimension: 13 3/8" H x 3 3/4" Dia. (base) Materials are Plywood, Mahogany and Aluminum with 15" chrome flexible arm. We used "aged" plywood for this one. Sounds silly, probably, but plywood that's 20 or 30 years old is different, and there's no mistaking it for brand new stuff. We'd been saving it for something special, and Vivian's concept of a multi-breasted "Venus" seemed like a perfect use for it. Weight: 5.2
